Green Lantern Movie?
Well this is interesting. One of my co-workers came up to me this afternoon, and asked me if they were making a Green Lantern movie. For SOME reason, I have this...reputation around the office as a comicbook nerd. I don't have the FOGGIEST idea how that happened! Well, it turns out that her sister just went down to New Orleans for vacation, and they are actually filming the movie right in front of her hotel! We all agreed that Ryan Reynolds is going to look fabulous in that suit.
*sigh*
Nothing like spreading a little green light and happiness amongst the normal people.
Oh, and Green Lantern Corps is coming out today...so I must make that lovely trek over to that most hallowed of halls...my beloved local comic book store. I can hardly wait.
And speaking of green...Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Green Corps, Green Movies, Green Beer, Woo-Hoo!
(tomorrow is going to hurt...)
I'm kind of unsure about the GL movie. I hope it turns out well, but I'm not expecting anything spectacular. Guarded optimism.
New Orleans, you say? Hmm...I have a friend down there. Maybe I'll have to ask her if she's seen anything. What I'm really dying to find out is what the suit will look like. Last year a coworker who takes surveys for money wound up taking a survey asking which GL costume he liked better. He's older so he chose the classic one and not the new-fangled one. I reallyyy hope they go with the classic Hal Jordan costume.
I must admit, the more I hear about this movie, the more excited I get. I LOVE that it's being directed by Martin Campbell. I loved his Mask of Zorro (which incorporated a REAL story from the Old West into the Zorro legend). Plus, he directed two of my favorite "modern" Bond films -- Goldeneye and Casino Royale. I think he's going to treat Green Lantern as realistically as he can -- or as realistically as ANYONE can treat a character and universe that is, at its heart, completely absurd. :-)
I always go in with low expectations and then hope to be presently surprised when it comes to film adaptations. Otherwise I get my hopes crushed. (Still hurting over Star Wars Episode I.)
I didn't realize he directed Mask of Zorro--that's promising. But as long as they decide to make the GL movie FUN and not gritty dark Dark Knight-esque, then I'll be happy. I realllly hope they don't go the gritty route.
They shot Jonah Hex in New Orleans as well. That town is giving some great incentives to get a lot of movie business.
Hmmm, Sally, maybe YOU might be invited for a set visit and an interview. Keep hoping!!!
Oh Dwayne, you tease.
I loved Mask of Zorro and Casino Royale, so I am hopeful of the outcome. I've heard rumors that the costume is...tight.
Heh heh.
