Uh oh. Looks like someone got a little too clingy. Hal hates clingy.
Hey, that's being just a bit TOO brutal! Usually, he just promises to call and then "conveniently" gets called away to Oa.
Just once I would like to to see Hal get completely and thoroughly dumped. It would do him a world of good.

Carol dumped him plenty of times -- he just has a very selective memory. ;-) Arisia dumped him, too, after he acted like a colossal jerk to her -- but he probably doesn't remember it that way. Carol and Arisia definitely had their "clingy" moments, though -- and so did every other woman Hal slept with. Except Cowgirl. Cowgirl's smart. She knows how to play him right. ;-)
I'm sure that in Hal's mind, he's ALWAYS the Dumper...and never the Dumpee.

I think you're right about Cowgirl. She doesn't seem that emotionally invested, which is probably a good thing for her. If all you want is a good time, then Hal is your man. Anything else, and sayonara.
