What Happens AFTER Blackest Night?
We're heading into the home stretch now. Blackest Night #6 will be coming out this Wednesday, followed by a short absence in January, presumably so that everyone can catch their breath, and then finishes up in February and March. So THEN what happens?
As we all know, Blackest Night more or less began this way...
And a clever plan it was, involving Nekron, Black Lanterns, death, destruction and the War Of Light, all more or less brought on by the stupidity of the Guardians.
Since then, Hal has become a Red Lantern, albeit briefly, and a Blue Lantern...sort of, and an Orange Lantern...greedily. He's teamed up with all of the other Corps, and is having the time of his life. John is being stoic and manly over on Xanshi, Kyle died...albeit briefly, and Guy is really REALLY pissed off. A lot of perfectly nice heroes have had their hearts ripped out, and all the formerly dead, but came-back-to-life heroes are working for Nekron now.
It's time for something BIG to happen. Mogo's arrival at Oa is pretty big. All of the various Corps working together is pretty big. But what's going to happen AFTER all the big stuff?
I Want Ted Kord back! And Ralph and Sue, and Max and Dmitri, and Garth and Aquaman and J'onn and the Hawkpeople and all the other good and wonderful characters with histories and more stories to tell that were offed for no good reason, other than shock value.
Oh, and Hal will probably quit the Green Lantern Corps again.
He does this sort of thing every once and a while, either when he's feeling unappreciated, or when the Guardians screw things up. Lately, I imagine that he's feeling both.
What do YOU all think?

OMG. Black Hand's Clever Plan. Oh, that just got me. Ahhh, the Silver Age.
"I Want Ted Kord back!"
A.men. And Vic Sage. And J'onn, and everyone else that you mentioned. And MAX LORD, yes!!! I even want Pa Kent back. I want a reboot of the entire DC Universe--brought back to a sort of quasi-Silver Age state. Heroes back to their roots. Superman saving cats in trees. Adam Strange fighting dinosaurs on Rann. Batman battling gangsters and Arkham escapees. J'onn eating Oreos. Ted and Booster doing something stupid. Hal getting hit over the head. All that good stuff.
As for Hal quitting the Corps? Wow, only he could throw a temper tantrum complete with throwing his ring on the floor in front of the entire chamber of Guardians. I dunno....maybe Hal will team up with the leaders of the respective colors and start his own Skittles Corps.
I'm honestly surprised that they didn't have him throwing his ring on the floor or chucking it at one of the Guardians in First Flight.
Hal seems to quit all of the time. And then he follows them around begging to come back. Hal can be awfully silly sometimes.
And the Guardians always took him back! I assume it was because he actually witnessed them doing the horizontal mambo with the Zamarons that one time, and has the photographs in a safe deposit box. There's really no other logical explanation.
"And then he follows them around begging to come back."
So, kinda like him and Carol?
"I assume it was because he actually witnessed them doing the horizontal mambo with the Zamarons that one time." What the..?! I missed that. I must admit, my GL history is sketchy. I've got to crack open those GL Showcase Presents now...
Definitely the best post of the week (in all of the comics blogosphere), Sally!
I'll echo Liss' words. In fact, I picture a brilliant white light...and then we see some of the Black Lanterns come back to life as their former selves.
Just about every hero is happy to see their long dead teammate / friend / lover, but as usual Batman spots a problem: He sees hero x who died an explosion during event y but not hero z who also died in that same explosion in event y. It's time to investigate.
Then the newly returned Vic Sage says, "You'll need my help."
J'onn says, "I shall accompany you as well"
Then Ted asks, "Mind if I tag along? Now where did I park the Bug?"
In the background we see Vibe breakdancing...
Of course, the mystery has to do with the fact that Nekron is only one of four or five DC characters that serve similar functions...
Sigh.....I used to own that piece of original art with The Black Hand. Sold it a couple of years ago.....
Your buddy,
Beau Smith
That's one of my very favorite pictures of Black Hand...mainly because it's hilarious.
Liss, Hal witnessed the shenanigans of the Guardians and the Zamorans in Millenia. It's pretty fabulous in a completely terrible sort of way.
Why, thank you, One True GL!
