Fear and Loathing
Well, it's Monday and as usual, I don't have a single thought in my head. And it occured to me...there are so many many comic book characters that I love. What about the ones that I simply cannot stand?
There are quite a number of those too.
Snapper Carr for example. I don't really know quite what it is about Snapper Carr that really sets my teeth on edge, but on edge they are.
I don't like Tony Stark very much anymore, but that is mainly because of Civil War, which still ranks as my most loathed Cross Over...although the recent Forever Evil Cross Over runs a close second. But the first was simply horrible, while the second was mostly just...boring.
You know who I simply cannot stand?
Geoforce, that's who.
Not exactly sure why even, other than the fact that I find him to be on the prissy side. And a tad sanctimonious, and snotty and incompetent, and a bit of a bore...!
Well, I guess I DO know why!
What characters do YOU all loathe for some reason or another? Or even for no reason at all?

Bishop from the X-Men comics, the living symbol of 90s plotlines that were designed to go nowhere under multiple creative teams before coming to an unplanned, incoherent resolution.
The New 52 Iris West because the whole point of Iris West since the 1960s was she was the girlfriend who COULD be trusted with the hero's secret identity.
Geo-Force is detestable, like any creation of Enemy of Society Mike W. Barr.
I loathe Colossus. He's bored me since his debut, grossed me out with Kitty, and even his death was a wash out!
Norman Osborne. Perhaps if they had left him dead I wouldn't care.
Maria Hill. I guess she's supposed to be Marvel's version of Amanda Waller, but I simply find her detestable.
J. Wellington Wimpy. Because he's a lazy mooch and con man.
Cyclops. Stick in the mud, abandons his wife and kid to run around with his not-dead-after-all-girlfriend, the whole mess where he decided they should use the Phoenix force to make more people into mutants, without bothering to, you know, as those people if they'd like to be mutants first.
Batman. Not all forms, but the paranoid ass of the last 20 or so years in the comics, yeah, that guy I can't stand.
Superboy-Prime. I disliked him to the point I didn't want to see him defeated, because that would mean he was actually in a comic. I just wanted him to vanish (and he did, who says dreams don't come true?
Iron Man, same as you Sally, because of Civil War.
How about Vigilante in Justice League Unlimited? What's a guy whose only superpowers are riding a motorcycle and shooting guns doing on a satellite?
Oooh, these are some good ones indeed!
The old Iris had her crazy moments, but yeah...Barry's new girlfriend is pretty boring. I can't even remember her name.
Colossus has undergone so many personality changes it is hard to keep track!
But Wimpy? Say it ain't so!
Superboy Prime on the other hand was a horror.
Some excellent excellent choices here.
Man, GeoForce just sets my teeth on edge.
I don't really have much of an opinion on Geoforce other than feeling bad for him after Terra died. The guy was totally clueless what she was going through and lost his sister.
I'll have to make my own list because once I think about this I don't think there will be enough space to write it.
Vibe. Ah, just yanking your chain, Scipio!
Mostly I detest villains, and not because they're bad guys. I hate the Joker. He's been so distorted and overused that I can't stand it when he shows up. Others I can't stand because they were deliberately designed to be one-shot characters, like Doomsday.
For Marvel, Dr. Doom. Magneto. Galactus. Again, all intended to be "ultimate threats," but they keep. coming. back. and then they're treated like it's no big deal. Familiarity breeds contempt, people.
Erin, you definitely should come with a list. And Bryan... you raise an excellent point about super villains. They have much more impact if they aren't used every other issue.
My knee-jerk answer was "I hate Cyclops," but I think I kinda like him better now that I hate him! Like he was a big bland pile of nothing before.
Yeah, Scott seems to have loosened up a bit. He's crazy...but more interesting.
