All Romance comic's heroes look like Hal...Again

It's true you know. I don't know if it is just that adorable little curl on his forehead, or his big brown eyes, but an astonishing number of the "heroes" in old Romance books look like Hal. I am equally flabberghasted to realize that there are actually quite a number that look like Guy. Not quite so many that look like Kyle which does surprise me, as black hair was easier to color than brown in the old 4-color process. Alas, practically none that look like John.

It's my theory, that there are a hell of a lot of Hal's women who may be showing up in the Star Sapphire Corps, OR wearing a red ring. Is revenge an emotion?

There's the lovely Julie for example.

She may not have been able to remember his name, but now, she can't get him out of her mind.

Then there was Dorine.

I'm not sure exactly what they are up to here, but it DOES look...interesting. You do have to hand it to Hal, he may be a narcissist, but at least he's good at what he does.

Hey, that's not ACTUALLY Carol Ferris, but gadzooks, she does look pretty classy in her little hat, so I'm pretending. Heck, she's ALREADY a Star Sapphire!

And this could be Arisia, if she had pointy ears. Or Eve Doremus, or hell, one of a million women that Hal has had.

And they all want to team up and either teach him a lesson, or save him. Which, oh which will it be?

I really don't think that Blackest Night is going to go in this direction, but wouldn't it be amusing if it did? Hal would think that it would be perfectly natural, since...as usual...it's all about HIM!

Oh Hal.

I still think Hal moonlighted as a romance comic hunk in the 1960s. ;-)

I am SO HAPPY that there's now EVIDENCE that Hal and Zinda had a roll in the hay. Funny to think Helena was there, too. ;-)

The question is NOW starting to become, which female (of age) heroes in the DCU HAVEN'T had a roll in the hay with Mr. Jordan?

Diana, Dinah, Kate, and Renee, definitely not. But almost everyone else is suspect. Heck, I'd even be suspicious of Platinum (Platina)!

I had no idea Hal was the DCU's James Bond! And Sea of Green, do you think we could also add Babs to the list (as she's quit a bit younger than him)? Hopefully?

Zinda, I can actually see. Helena, I'm having a little bit of trouble with. It is possible of course, that she was simply in the other bed, and slept through the whole thing. On the other hand, Hal IS pretty damned charming.

I have no problem believing Helena if Zinda weren't also involved. She had kinda been involved with lots of people before getting involved with the Birds of Prey. and followed that up by immediately winding up in bed with a parking attendant. So she may be serious, but she doesn't mind going to bed with a guy. It just rarely means anything to her later, as she said, which would be fine by Hal.
And while he may not have slept with Dinah (probably) they have made out.
Also, don't forget, according to the now retconned JLA: Year One, he spent quite some time trying to get J'onn (disguised as an attractive blonde) into bed.
And, um, Power Girl he made out with, but lost the chance to seal the deal (but he still got to keep her personal phone number to offer to Guy). Zatanna? She did follow up Constantine with a number of flings... also, I'm going to say unlikely for Kimiyo Hoshi.
But, basically, between Hal, Ollie, poor angsty Dick Grayson, and Roy, how many women of age would still be left?

How old is Vixen? Hal's never managed a fling with her that I know of. There were those two Crimson Foxes on Justice League Europe, which I'm sure interested Hal, but I don't know of him making a go of it.

Have any of the Hawkgirls/Hawkwomen ever simultaneously been a) available and b) an appropriate age for Hal to try with? I'd hope even Hal wouldn't be so stupid as to try and hit on a married Hawklady. Not unless he wanted a yellow mace upside the head, or a yellow crossbow bolt somewhere else.

I would be very surprised if Hal didn't sleep with at least one Crimson Fox. They did place him on a pedestal and their successor also said they respected him greatly. Wouldn't be surprised if they made a pass at him, and assuming he wasn't involved at the time they would have done so, I doubt he would have said 'no.'
As for the Hawk thing, I doubt any GL outside of the animated continuity was going to do something so insane with Carter around! [hard to believe he and Ollie were the pleasant and mature ones on the show, apart from Carter's comic-like insistence on the reborn soulmates thing]

I don't think that even Hal would be crazy enough to hit on Shayera. But just about anything else with two legs and a bosom is fair game.

Except Tora or course. That would have been even more suicidal than Shayera.

I think Helena would go for it -- a fling with Hal would be ideal because he wouldn't expect her to be beholden to him in any way. And he IS so charming and gosh-darn handsome.

Hal and at least ONE of the original Crimson Foxes used to flirt outrageously with each other. The other Crimson Fox was stuck on Metamorpho.

Babs? Now THAT's a thought ...!

Kimiyo always seemed to think Hal was an idiot, but you never know.

Vixen is DEFINITELY suspect. So is Zatanna. I've always thought Zatanna and Hal were likely candidates for a brief fling-for-fun.

Who knows? Maybe Hal and Power Girl DID hook up, briefly, when Hal returned from the dead. Certainly, a lot of heroes were sympathetic toward him after he escaped from POW camp. I can imagine Peej being among them.

Hal does have a code against fooling around with married women or women who are otherwise "attached." Therefore, the Hawks and Dinah are completely off limits (though the thought of him with Big Barda DOES crack me up a bit ...)

Hal and Zinda is such an awesome pairing. I could see them remaining friends with occasional benefits -- not too often, because that would spoil the fun casual nature of it.

And even if he were enough of a jerk to hit on Tora (and I'm not totally convinced that he isn't), she wouldn't have him. I still like to think that she doesn't really like him very much, even though we haven't really seen them interact much, if at all.

Waaay back when both he and Guy were with different branches of the JLI, I could see Hal just being his unintentionally charming self with her, honestly not conciously intending any harm, and Guy going ballistic. But who could blame him, given Hal's track record with Guy's girls? One stab in the back is one too many when it comes to love.

On the one scan, it's glad to know that they are 'leaving' together as opposed to 'arriving' together.

Ha! That's exactly what I thought when I first ran across that panel, Dwayne. :-)

I once saw a drawing that Ethan Van Sciver did of Hal with Jean Gray (as Phoenix) in space. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have that drawing -- and what a scarily logical pairing of characters!

Hal and Phoenix? Oh, he would SO try to tap that.
